Vans for Nans?
Phoebe Philo’s minimalist and simple structural handiwork is all over this big shoe trend. (Not that we ever get much chance to get our hands on her work in Australia.)
Whoever did it first, plenty have followed and the northern summer looks like Skater Girls have gone all designer and are working a whole bunch of textural, colourful and monochromatic ‘Vans’ into their looks. For those more sensible, Zara has already worked this look into their shoe range, although quickly sold out in Sydney stores. I’m sure they’ll be back if you want to try this out at a sensible price point.
I already have my little piece of this trend (see ‘Skater Shoes’) so you know where I stand on it (sorry, pun!). What do you think? Will you be switching up your ballet flats for skater flats this spring?
